Valentino Haute Couture F/W 10.11

Karlie Kloss

"The collection that the designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, served up was airy and based essentially on an ultrashort trapeze dress (or coat) in organza, gazar or wool crepe. Bows and flounces were added to the shape. All in all, the models, their hair in dome-shaped buns and wearing mules with more bows or tiny flowers on the tips, looked like wisps that might blow away. The designers like fragility, though it obviously flatters only certain bodies." via{nymag}

"The striptease action was just one of the many ways in which Gaultier explored the realms of Parisian style. His models wore high twisted turbans, and came on smoking cigarettes. His favourite trench-coat came in black satin with batwing sleeves, while a grey trouser-suit, impeccably cut, featured a “rocket cone” bra and “derrière” in black mink, attached to the jacket. Fishnet leggings were embroidered on the back with the Eiffel Tower and long cashmere cardigans were worn with multicoloured, sequinned trousers." via{telegraph}

This gave rise to “goddess” gowns in fiery red, hand-embroidered with hundreds of thousands of beads and crystals, and flame-printed chiffon ball-dresses with “wings” of fabric which floated behind the models.
Red silk tulle and chiffon fashioned intricately-draped and swathed gowns with a single, crystal-and-pearl beaded sleeve. Red ostrich feathers were “woven” into sequin-strewn angora for fitted dresses and suits, belted in ruby velvet. via{telegraph}

"Sitting at his desk in the Chanel studio yesterday, he pulled out a sketch-pad and drew the simple line he believes in now: essentially an exaggerated, rounded shoulder, a cropped bolero, and the narrow, high stem of a waist." via{Vogue}

Givenchy Haute Couture F.W Details

“My style is about the little details. If a dress goes by with the kind of speed of my shows, you might go, ‘Oh, there’s a lace dress.’ You won’t see why it took 1,600 hours to make. And this way, I can meet people and talk to everyone. That’s good, too.” Riccardo Tisci via{vogue}
