African Fashion Week DEOLA SAGOE S/S 2010

African Fashion Week started in Johannesburg,South Africa first up is designer Deola Sagoe Spring / Summer Collection.

Anita of Anita Quansah London, is a Textile Designer based in the UK.

From the designer "I studied textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design London. Since graduating, I have been working to develop and promote recycled textiles, by creating intricate pieces for fashion and interior. Being involved with Indigo, Premier Vision in Paris, and other such exhibitions has given me the opportunity to be involved with the fashion industry, collaborating and creating unique embroidered textile pieces for some of the leading textile and fashion design houses."

"Designs have been featured in editorials such as Deutch Vogue, British Vogue, Elle UK.com,Dare2magazine, Muse, German Tush, Pref and Vision.

I have collaborated with; DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ischiko, Victoria Secret, Ecko and textiles Weisbrod Zurrer and Sandy Starkman.

In 2004 I collaborated with Christian Lacroix, designing and embroidering a jacket featured on the runway for his Haute Couture show in Paris."

"With the knowledge and inspiration gained from this experience, I have moved on to design a collection of jewelry and fashion which is a bit of bohemian tribal fusion. The designs are effortless chic with a modern twist, inspired by my passion for creativity, travel, nature, art, architecture, fashion and music of past and present generations."

"Each piece is handmade in UK using vintage fabrics fused with reclaimed textiles, incorporating mixed metals, silver, gold, gunmetal and the introduction of colourful elements such as pearls, beads, rhinestones, ribbons and fringing giving the collection a sense of modernity with a hint of the past."
